Using AI tools for affiliate marketing

AI tools help most with research, outlining and speed, and cost you most when they write the finished page - because the thing that earns is a genuinely useful answer, and generic text is the one thing there is already an infinite supply of.

Can you use ChatGPT for affiliate marketing?

Yes, and usefully - for finding the questions worth answering, structuring a page before you write it, and checking whether you have missed an angle. Those are research tasks, and they are where the time saving is real.

Where it stops being useful is producing the page itself. A model writing about a topic it has no direct experience of produces text that is fluent and unspecific, and unspecific is exactly what does not get chosen - by readers or by the systems deciding what to cite.

The part that changed recently

AI answers now sit above the search results on most commercial queries. That changes what wins: being quotable matters as much as ranking, and the pages that get quoted are the ones that answer a specific question directly and say something the model could not have generated for itself.

Which means AI-written content is competing against the AI that would otherwise summarise it - a competition it cannot win. The pages that survive this are the ones carrying something the model does not already have: a real test, a specific comparison, a number you verified, an opinion you can defend.

Where it costs you

Producing volume. Fifty generated pages look like progress and read like every other generated page, which makes the site harder to distinguish from the thousands of others doing the same thing. The cost is not just that those pages do not rank - it is that they make the good pages on the same site harder to trust.

The rule that keeps it useful

Use AI for everything up to the point where the page needs to be worth reading, then do that part yourself. Research, structure, checking, tightening - all fair. The specific useful thing you know that nobody else has written down - that is the whole product.

Can I do faceless affiliate marketing with AI?

Yes for the faceless part, and carefully for the AI part - because faceless already removes personality from the page, and generic text removes the only other thing that made it distinctive.

A faceless site competes purely on the quality of the answer. That is a winnable competition, but only if the answer is actually better. Faceless plus generated text leaves nothing to win on, which is why so many sites of that description exist and so few of them earn.

What works: faceless, but specific. You do not need to show your face to have tested something, compared two things properly, or written the clearest explanation of a mechanism that exists anywhere. Those are all anonymous and all valuable.

How to tell whether a draft is carrying anything

Read the page and ask which sentences a model could have written without ever seeing your topic. If the answer is most of them, the page has nothing to defend and will be summarised out of existence by the first AI answer that covers the same ground.

The test is uncomfortable and fast. It usually reveals that the introduction and the conclusion are generic and the middle third is the actual article - which is a useful editing instruction on its own.

Where AI helps most that nobody mentions

Editing your own work for directness. Everyone hedges when they write, and hedged prose is exactly what does not get quoted. Asking a model to identify every sentence that delays the answer, then rewriting those yourself, improves a page measurably in minutes.

The same applies to headings. Turning a vague heading into the literal question a person would type is a small change that decides whether a section can be lifted into an AI answer at all.
